3. Repair ski equipment
- Repairing scratches and rock gouges are usually needed for increasing the useful life of ski and snowboard base. To do so, several tools and supplies such as ski or snowboard vise, cleaner, metal scraper, Polyethylene repair candle, torch, wire brush, and razor blade are needed.
- Repairing the ski or snowboard base requires following several steps: first, the ski or snowboard must be prepared by brushing off any dirt or debris, cleaning with a base cleaner, and removing residual base cleaner by rubbing alcohol. Next, the gouge must be filled by applying the torch heat to a polyethylene candle and directing the liquid toward the gouge. Then the excess must be removed with the metal scraper. In the end, the wax must be applied. Repairing ski equipment requires experience, knowledge, materials, and tools.
